Biology 2.6 Describe diversity in the structure and function of animals
Subject content
You are required to demonstrate an understanding of diversity in structure and function over three taxonomic or functional groups of multi-cellular animals. For example, insect, amphibian, mammal, carnivore, herbivore, or omnivore, where there is sufficient diversity that can be meaningfully compared and contrasted.
You will be tested on one of the following biological processes about animal diversity in structure and function:
- internal transport
- gas exchange
- nutrition
- excretion
- support and movement
- sensitivity and coordination
- reproduction.
While the focus of this achievement standard is about diversity in the structure and function of multi-cellular animals, you are still required to describe aspects that are relevant and important to the process at the cellular level.
Have a look at these websites for a general idea of diversity of structure and function. Check out the Biology 2.6 Sites for revision page for more information on different animal groups.
