Biology 3.2 Integrate biological knowledge to develop an informed response to a socio-scientific issue
Key tips
- Highlight important information in the instructions given to you by your teacher. This will help you to find out things such as:
- what issue you are investigating
- time available and due date of the assessment
- resources that are available for you to use
- format of the assessment.
- The issue may be provided by the teacher, selected from a list or selected by you. Make sure your selected issue is approved by your teacher.
- The issue should be a contemporary one with direct relevance to New Zealand and/or the Pacific region. Beginning with a broad issue such as Whaling or Climate change, you would be expected to refine the topic into one with direct relevance to the New Zealand region and context.
- Good referencing practice, using accepted protocols, is expected. The teacher would be expected to make a judgement about the authenticity of your work and may use the references or a reference list as evidence of authenticity and integration. There is no specific requirement for referencing in this standard therefore this will not preclude the achievement of this standard.
