Proofreading and editing
This is a vital stage of writing that cannot be overlooked. You must check for the following:
- ideas which are unclear, difficult to find, or in the wrong order
- words which could be replaced or removed by stronger more appropriate words (see word choice)
- sentences are complete
- tense and tone is the same throughout the piece of writing
- accuracy of punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
