1.8 Produce a media or dramatic presentation
Planning a media presentation
Most presentations use visual (pictures or body language) and verbal (words or dialogue) techniques to communicate a message to an audience. Every technique you choose must reinforce your main message. The message should be clear at first glance, but have enough detail to hold the viewer’s interest so they look closer to see the deeper message and the ideas behind the techniques and words.
Use the following steps as a guide for the production process for any media presentation:
- Choose a main idea or theme you want to focus on and brainstorm different ways to present or express this idea.
- Plan and develop your ideas by drawing quick sketches of your ideas and text showing the layout and overall look.
- Think of visual features – how aspects such as colour, size, and shape work together.
- Choose your verbal features carefully – they must go with the visual aspect of the image and help to reinforce the main idea.
- Review your use of production features.
