1.9 Research, Use information literacy skills to form conclusion(s)
Organising information, and making conclusions
Read through your answers for each question, highlight important information, and record your thoughts and opinions. Look for any trends or patterns in information. You need to come up with the best answer from all your resources so you can answer the question in depth.
Forming conclusion(s) involves combining your existing knowledge with information you have gathered in your inquiry and using this to create new ideas and knowledge, including recommendations for future action where appropriate.
Use the outline below as a planning sheet to organise your material.
Introduction: state your topic and all three questions, give a brief reason for choosing this topic.
Paragraphs 1, 2, 3, (4): answer one question at a time in separate paragraphs using this structure:
- Make each key question into a statement to form a topic sentence.
- State an important fact, quote some detail from your notes for this question and write where this information came from.
- Make a generalisation based on this information and other patterns you can see emerging from your notes, answers from other sources.
- Link back to your topic or make a conclusion or judgment, give your opinion or a solution.
Conclusion: This should not introduce any new material but tie up all your answers forming a main overall conclusion relating to your topic.
