3.3 Respond critically to Shakespearean drama studied

This achievement standard involves a previous reading and study of a Shakespearean drama, and developing a critical response, using supporting evidence.

Your teacher will select one of the following Shakespearean plays to study:

  • Othello
  • Much Ado About Nothing
  • Richard III
  • King Lear
  • The Tempest.


In the examination you will choose one of the following question types:

  • analysis of a passage from a Shakespearean text
  • analysis of selected aspect(s) of a Shakespearean text.
