3.6 Construct and deliver an oral presentation
Rehearsal
- The amount of preparation you put into your presentation will influence how you feel on the day. If you have put the effort in and rehearsed your presentation it will be over before you know it.
- Plan where and how you will use oral and visual language techniques to help communicate your message. Scroll to page 7 of "Say it on Words" (Word 180KB) for an example of how to annotate your notes.
- Aspects to rehearse may include:
- delivering the opening section to find an appropriate tone, pace, and volume
- setting up and using technological presentation aids such as a PowerPoint presentation or OHP. Practise how you will highlight and discuss key points.
- rehearsing your instructions for setting up a group activity
- testing any resources or activities by imagining you are a student seeing them for the first time. How useful and clear will they be?
- Time the different sections of your presentation during rehearsal.
See Say it on Words (Word 180KB) and scroll to page 9 for a checklist.
