Achievement
Propose research questions that expand understandings of the topic means that students formulate questions that extend from existing information and encourage research into new areas and allow for conclusions and judgments to be made.
Relevant information may include material from primary sources such as written, visual, oral texts relevant to the topic/issue, and secondary sources such as critiques, reviews, commentaries, articles. A range may relate to a variety within a genre, a variety over time, a variety over genres or a number of samples within a primary source (for example several soliloquies from one play).
Referenced sources means that a written bibliography is provided.
Present in written form, such as a research report which may be illustrated or supported by audio or visual material.
A conclusion is a logical progression or stage of thought that has been proven by using facts. Conclusion statements could begin with 'This information shows...'
Appropriate written format means your teacher will tell you how you are to record your notes and research log. Your findings are to be presented in a written report with a clear introduction, middle, and conclusion.
Achievement with Merit
Judgments are your carefully reasoned thoughts and opinions, based on your conclusions, or any trends or patterns you can see from the information you have gathered. Information from a range of sources will be evaluated and integrated to construct new understandings.
Achievement with Excellence
Integrated refers to a student’s ability to synthesise judgments based on information drawn from several sources.
Develop perceptive judgments means your judgments offer mature insights by highlighting and making links between important ideas between texts and concepts.
