## Physics 3.1 Carry out a practical investigation to test a physics theory relating two variables in a non-linear relationship

### Subject content

Your teacher will give you the aim of the investigation. It may involve you finding the mathematical relationship or the physical quantity derived from the mathematical relationship.

Your teacher will provide guidance during the investigation. Your teacher will set the parameters and provide general information, such as background information relevant to the physics concepts and/or theory to enable you to discuss your results. You are required, however, to drive the investigation.

The following websites may prepare you for the assessment of this achievement standard:

- It's a wonderful line: Data analysis using graphs provides an introduction into the use of graphs to analyse data and to determine whether a relationship exists.
- Practice in significant figures
- Making measurements
- Advanced physics lab tutorials, which includes graphing with Excel
