Physics 3.6 Demonstrate understanding of electrical systems
Key tips
- Be aware of the appropriate use of significant figures and units. You may use both negative index (for example, m s–2) and slash notation (for example, m/s2) when writing units. However, the examination paper will supply data using negative index notation.
- Know and use circuit symbols when drawing circuit diagrams.
- Don’t be afraid to use diagrams, formulae, and graphs to illustrate your written answers.
- Know how to work out resonant frequencies of RLC circuits by equating reactances.
- Learn the resonant frequency graph shapes.
- Learn the voltage and current graphs for capacitors and inductors.
- You may be given unfamiliar circuit-types in the examination; make sure you understand the concepts and don’t panic!
