Science 3.1 Carry out a practical scientific investigation with guidance

Subject content

Features of this internal investigation are:

  • You will be guided by your teacher about the sort of investigation that you can carry out.
  • The investigation is open but must involve a valid science concept.
  • The investigation will involve a fair test or pattern seeking.
  • Include a reference list. Make sure it is correctly set out following accepted or specified formats. Any diagrams, pictures, quotes, etc should be correctly acknowledged or cited.
  • Some possible pūtaiao contexts could include:
    • the changes in acidity during the fermentation process of kānga wai
    • the factors influencing kūmara production and harvesting
    • the various strengths of native timbers and their subsequent uses, for example, different whare.
