Blue Genes: The Principles of Genetic Inheritance
This programme is designed to teach students about the principles of genetic inheritance. Covers topics such as chromosomes, DNA, mitosis, and meiosis, and has related problems to solve. Suitable for NCEA levels one, two and three.

DNA from the Beginning
DNA from the beginning is an animated primer on the basics of DNA, genes and heredity. It is organised around key concepts. The science behind each concept is explained by animation, image gallery, video interviews, problem, biographies, and links. Requires the downloading of Flash Player and Real Player. A useful resource for upper primary and secondary school. Suitable for NCEA levels one, two and three.

DNA Workshop
The activities at this website investigate the processes of DNA replication and protein synthesis. Includes background information, a glossary and information on related people and discoveries. Shockwave is required for activities to run. Suitable for NCEA level three.

Gene Interactions
This website provides information on genes and chromosomes and the interactions among genes. Includes codominant alleles, incomplete dominance, multiple alleles, epistasis, polygenic inheritance, and pleiotropy. Suitable for NCEA level three.

Genetic Science Learning Center
This website from the University of Utah provides information, animated tours, and interactive activities about genetics. Topics include basic concepts about DNA and genes, genetic disorders, cloning, stem cells, and more. Includes teacher resources, and experiments with full instructions. Suitable for middle primary to secondary levels, including NCEA levels one, two and three.

Genetics and evolution tutorial
Biology-online provides biological information for homework, research projects and general interest. Genetics and evolution tutorials include meiosis, genetic diversity, Mendelian genetics (genotype and phenotype, monohybrid and dihybrid crosses), sex chromosomes, mutations, natural selection, selective breeding, and genetic engineering. Suitable for NCEA levels two and three.
