Science 3.7 Report on a recent astronomical event or discovery

Achievement criteria

The level of achievement that you will reach is decided by your report - how thorough and comprehensive it is.

Resources will be provided for you, but you have to process information and, in combination with your own knowledge and research, prepare and present a report.

Achievement

  • Present a report on a recent astronomical event or discovery.
  • Your report will include a:
    • description of the scientific background
    • summary of the relevant scientific information
    • statement of the significance of the event or discovery.

Achievement with Merit

  • Present a detailed report on a recent astronomical event or discovery.
  • This means that your detailed report will include:
    • an explanation of the scientific background
    • a detailed summary of relevant scientific information
    • an explanation of the significance of the event or discovery.

Achievement with Excellence

  • Present a detailed and analytical report on a recent astronomical event or discovery.
  • This means that your report will include:
    • a discussion of the scientific background, and
      either
    • a detailed summary of relevant scientific information and an analysis of the significance of the event or discovery
      or
    • an analysis of the relevant scientific information and a detailed summary of the significance of the event or discovery.
